Prof. Anna Boguszewska-Czubara

Anna Boguszewska-Czubara a Research Professor at the Department of Medical Chemistry, Medical University of Lublin, Poland. She graduated in Chemistry from Maria Curie-Skłodowska University in Lublin, where she completed her Master's degree in Organic Chemistry. In 2009, she was awarded a PhD in Medical Sciences (Medical Biology) from the Medical University of Lublin.

Her scientific achievements include more than 170 peer-reviewed publications, with a cumulative IF of over 445 and an H-index of about 30. Her research focuses on interdisciplinary studies at the interface of medicinal chemistry, biology, environmental toxicology and experimental pharmacology, with particular emphasis on both in vitro and in vivo experimental models.

Prof. Boguszewska-Czubara has served as investigator and research team member in numerous nationally funded research projects, including grants supported by the Polish National Science Centre (NCN) under the OPUS programme and the Ministry of Education and Science through the POWER programme. She has also completed research fellowships at the University of Turin, the University of Messina and Maria Curie-Skłodowska University in Lublin, conducting interdisciplinary research in environmental chemistry and toxicology.

She is actively involved in research management and quality assurance as Head of Quality Assurance at the GLP-certified (Good Laboratory Practice) Laboratory of the Centre for Experimental Medicine, Medical University of Lublin. In this role, she contributed to the successful implementation of the GLP quality system, the laboratory certification process, and the supervision of preclinical studies conducted in compliance with international regulatory standards.

In addition to her research activities, Prof. Boguszewska-Czubara is actively engaged in academic teaching and supervision. She supervises PhD, Master's, and Bachelor's theses in Biomedical Sciences and has developed and delivered university-level courses in chemistry, biochemistry, molecular biology, and preclinical research. She teaches both in Polish and English.

Prof. Alessandro Parente

Alessandro Parente earned his Master's (2005) and PhD (2009) in Chemical Engineering from the Università di Pisa. He was a Research Associate at the University of Utah (2007–2009) and joined the von Karman Institute in 2009. Since 2010, he has been at the Université Libre de Bruxelles, where he became a Full Professor in 2019. Co-chair of the Brussels Institute for Thermal-Fluid Systems and Clean Energy (BRITE) since 2021.

His research spans experimental and numerical studies of reacting and non-reacting flows, with applications in air quality and industrial decarbonization. He is a fellow of the Combustion Institute and has received 2 ERC grants. Currently, he leads efforts in using machine learning to enhance fluid flow simulations and develop digital twins, coordinating several projects in the field, including a European-wide network (cypher.ulb.be) for decarbonising hard-to-abate sectors.

Prof. Stefan Wuttke

Stefan Wuttke completed his Diploma in chemistry in 2005 at the Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin in cooperation with the University of Glasgow. He completed his PhD in 2009 with Prof. E. Kemnitz at the Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin. Stefan Wuttke created the research group “WuttkeGroup for Science”. (Home - WUTTKEGROUP), initially hosted at the Institute of Physical Chemistry at the University of Munich (LMU, Germany). Currently, he is an institute professor and director of the Department of Functional Materials and Nanomagnetism at Academic Centre for Materials and Nanotechnology of the AGH University of Krakow (Poland), and also a visiting Professor of Functional Materials at Lincoln University (UK).

His principal focus is the design, synthesis, and functionalization of MOFs and their nanometric counterparts to target diverse applications. At the same time, he aims to establish a basic understanding of the chemical and physical elementary processes involved in the synthesis, functionalization, and application of these hybrid materials.

Prof. Tomasz Ciach

Tomasz Ciach is a scientist and engineer whose work focuses on applied research at the intersection of chemistry, nanotechnology, and medicine. He has an interdisciplinary academic background in chemical engineering and biology. He leads the Biotechnology and Bioprocess Engineering Division at the Faculty of Chemical and Process Engineering, Warsaw University of Technology.

His research is centered on drug delivery systems and medical technologies, including nanoparticles, implants, injectable formulations, and other devices designed to deliver therapeutics at the right place and at the desired rate. His work in nanotechnology includes nanoparticles for targeted drug delivery, cancer therapy, cancer diagnostics, and synthetic oxygen carriers. He also develops medical devices and implants, including bone, cartilage, and vascular prostheses, as well as advanced coatings for medical devices that regulate protein and cell attachment and reduce platelet activation in blood-contacting applications.

Several medical technologies developed by his group have already reached the regulated medical market in Europe, the United States, and Africa. He actively encourages his doctoral students to establish spin-off companies aimed at translating medical technologies into real-world applications. To date, he has co-founded six spin-off companies, three of which are part of a holding company listed on the Warsaw Stock Exchange.

Prof. Ciach is the author of 156 research papers, cited more than 3,200 times, with an
h-index of 33. He is also an inventor on fifty patents and patent applications. His work has been recognized with numerous national and international awards, including a Gold Medal at the Eureka International Exhibition of Inventions in Brussels.
